Outcomes of the MSR

The Uniting Church in Victoria and Tasmania has a vision and has set a direction for the renewal of the Church.

Members of the Major Strategic Review Team presented their final report to the Synod 2016 meeting. The wide ranging report and recommendations were considered over the five days of Synod in three workshops and numerous plenary discussions.

The Synod was invited to recognise the new and hopeful ways in which God is working and to respond to the call for the Synod to move into a new and renewed form to continue to participate in this work. Following on from this the Vision and Mission Principles were received as a primary aid over the next 3 to 5 years for spiritual discernment and a focus for the Synod.

All MSR-related proposals presented to Synod were resolved with some amendments. These resolutions set a clear direction for the Synod over the next six years centred on the Vision and Mission Principles, which provide a focus to thoughtful and prayerful discernment for this journey.

The MSR concluded at the end of June 2016.

A Strategic Review Implementation Team will be established to implement resolutions resulting from the MSR. Updates will be made via other Synod communications, such as Crosslight and Synod E-news, when further information becomes available.
